Welcome
Dear Candidate
Thank you for your interest in applying to become our first Director of Workforce & Communications, a role which for the first time combines these two business-critical functions at board level. The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres focusing on service, research and education and this role needs an experienced HR leader. We are an international leader in cancer research and have a School of Oncology which supports the education of our healthcare professionals. This provides the unique opportunity to integrate the development of service, research and education, and ensures that the patient is at the heart of everything we do.
It is our skilled and committed staff who are the ‘jewel in our crown’ and we therefore encourage a culture of innovation, team working, personal development and excellence. Your tasks will include ensuring our workforce is fit for purpose and, through an effective Organisational Development strategy, bringing about transformational cultural change so that we can seize the opportunities and tackle the challenges in the changing health economy. The role needs someone who can also take responsibility for the development of our corporate objectives, lead our experienced marketing and communications teams, as well as support the board in the implementation of our 20:20 Vision.
I believe this is a unique opportunity – we are an organisation of exceptional people, offering a board-level leadership role across two strategically-important functions. If you share our passion for the work we do and believe you can make a difference at a senior level, I look forward to receiving an application from you. Please contact Robin Staveley of GatenbySanderson on 0113 205 6087 for an initial, confidential conversation.
I look forward to meeting candidates ready for this challenge and with the ambition to succeed.
Yours sincerely
Caroline Shaw - Chief Executive
